Introducing...

NagVis can be used to visualize Nagios Data, e.g. to display IT processes like a mail system or a network infrastructure.

Http Zone on Map

3

In my company Nagvis takes an important place for the IT department.
We would like to have possibilities to set up external http link on different hosts, text zones, services, maps... to access administration tools like ISP monitoring web page or web console of a service (ex : Squid Report, ...)

With this feature, Nagvis could be the "central place" for any IT service, because with only one click, we can access to administration web page of any object display on a Nagvis map.

How the supporting system works

You as a supporter of a feature specify one or several things you like to give to the solver for getting the feature request solved. It can be for example a bunch of coins but some developers migth also be happy about some beer donations ;-).

Posting your donation to a feature is seen as a willigness to support this feature. It is no binding offer. Once the feature gets targeted to be solved, we will contact you with more details.

OK, I think I did not express myself properly. What we want is like the “Label” special option in edit map mode except that we would like to have a hyperlink with this label. The feature could be named “Label Hyperlink”. So on your map, you have your hyperlink label and you click on it to access to a webpage. (Like Administration Webpage, or Company’s website).
Actually it’s not possible to do that with the “label option” because this option cannot accept special character like “ = (in order to write directly html code).
I know is it possible to make this with context menu action, but administration console based on a webpage is different on each server. So each server needs a different template for different context menu action.
We implement context menu action for VNC and RPD connection.
Thanks for reading and responding !

This is already implemented.

Have a look in the documentation:
http://docs.nagvis.org/1.6/en_US/extending/custom_context_actions.html

You can edit the context template to open html links.

You mean that each object can be set to "show to public"?

But doesn't that look ugly if you have a well structured map but some of the places are empty because of missing icons?

No, just an option witch can be added on each host (for example) to access on his http administration page.

Would it be an option to create special maps for these external users and make these maps accessible by guest users?
